Since 1957, Wild Rivers has offered archaeological, geological and natural history expeditions on Utah's San Juan River. Heartland of the prehistoric Anasazi civilization, the San Juan offers outstanding opportunities to explore ancient ruins and rock art left by this culture while enjoying the excitement of a river journey.
San Juan River Trips
Upper River Half-Day Tour:
A calm and peaceful 7-mile float on the San Juan river right here in Bluff. Choose an inflatable kayak or stand-up paddleboard. Paddle boats or rafts are available for large groups. This is a family favorite for splashing and swimming or can be a peaceful float. There are no rapids in this section of the river. This is a great way to cool off and swim after a morning hike or our half day canyoneering trip.

Upper River Daily River Tour:
This is the best one-day river trip available in the West. In the morning we make two stops to learn about the Butler Wash petroglyph panel and River House cliff dwelling. We'll enjoy a fresh lunch under the cottonwoods before entering a limestone chasm for the afternoon, where we'll see desert bighorn sheep and 300 million-year-old fossils. A full day and 26 miles in length, this is a great trip for those with limited time.

Upper River 3-Day Tour:
The San Juan's upper canyon is an outdoor museum of archaeology, geology and natural history. Ruins and petroglyph panels abound while the textbook geology provides for fascinating learning and stunning red rock scenery. Three days exploring the upper canyon affords time to explore these wonders while enjoying fine meals, camping on the beach, swimming, sunsets and star gazing. Our three day trip is a perfect canyon country getaway.

Lower River 4-Day Tour:
The Mexican Hat to Clay Hills Crossing stretch of the San Juan River is one of the prettiest canyons you might ever visit. We'll see geological formations created over 300 million years ago and visit some historical sites along the way. The side canyons we might visit feature pools, springs, waterfalls and sculpted grottos with hanging gardens.

Full River 7-Day Tour:
This leisurely 84-mile stretch is considered the classic San Juan River adventure. We visit ancient rock art sites and cliff dwellings and travel through 300-million years' worth of colorful rock layers. The river meanders through the famous deep canyon of the Goosenecks of the San Juan. Alluring side canyons feature pools, springs, waterfalls, and sculpted grottos with hanging gardens.
