Snake River Rafting
The Snake is a large, formidable river offering huge rapids in Hells Canyon — the deepest gorge in North America.
During runoff, rapids range up to Class IV. The river settles to a more family-friendly temperament during the rest of the season. Three to five day trips are common here.
Scenery is spectacular in Hells Canyon. Volcanic rock from massive lava flows litter the canyon walls. Wildlife is abundant and animals seem to have little fear of rafters. It is common to get close-up views of big horn sheep, deer and other large animals.
Unique giant sturgeon inhabit the river and provide adventure for fishermen. Smallmouth bass and trout are also available. Many outfitters will provide raft/fish trips upon request.
