Mount Raymond Trail
You like peak-baggin'? This Wasatch peak is a classic all year round. Scramble to the summit in summer, and backcountry ski its pretty slopes in the winter.
Start at the Butler Fork Trailhead up Big Cottonwood Canyon. The first 1.5 miles of the hike are steep, but the trail levels off. The last leg of the hike requires some scrambling along a ridge. The trail can get a bit overgrown in the spring, so you might be better off wearing pants rather than getting scratched like a cat post. Summer months this trail is carpeted with wildflowers.
Bring lots of water and hiking poles for the steep sections. Sign your name to fame on the hiker’s log at the summit.
Winter? No problem. This peak is a popular backcountry skiing destination. Check the avalanche forecast before you go.
