Davis County

One-stop shop for family ski trips, buffalo, roller coasters and land art.

Welcome to Davis County, the place where everybody knows your name. The bucolic 'burbs just north of Salt Lake City have all the folksy goodness of the Cheers bar, just minus the bar. A family-friendly county, Davis residents are proud of their homespun fun, homegrown agriculture products, and their down-home attitude. It's a place where kids still play night games, where the streets are quiet as the sunsets, and mom-and-pop theaters still dominate low Main Street skylines. But don't you dre deem it dull. Bounded by immense green mountains, the states greatest amusement park, and the country's only inland sea. Davis may be small town in feel, but it's tall on good times.

It claims the Great Salt Lake and Antelope Island, has great shopping, dining, entertainment and some fantastic museums, too.
For a real overview of Davis County, just hop on the Bonneville Shoreline Trail and look down at the valley that was under Lake Bonneville 20,000 years ago.

Not to Miss

Fall colors: The Davis mountains will be ablaze with turning foliage in early October. The color will move down the mountain throughout the month with fun harvest colors and activities running into November.

The Buffalo roundup at Antelope Island: A large herd of buffalo (American bison) roam freely on Antelope Island State Park. Cool, right? And in late October every year, the buffalo are rounded up and herded into corrals for a check-up. Horsemen come from around the region to participate. Spectators can drink in the westernness from strategic vantage points. The island is also home to many other animals, too, so wildlife watching is popular year-round. The birds are countless - visit in the fall for migratory season. The Great Salt Lake Shorelands Preserve and adjacent wetlands include some of Utah's best spots to photograph wildlife.

Tour of Utah: Stage 5
The Tour of Utah returns to Davis County for a second year and a start at Antelope Island State Park. Antelope Island is the perfect place to view the Great Salt Lake, and is the largest of its nine islands. Grab a chair, sit back, and watch the bikes fly by.
