From concerts to plays to sporting events, there's always plenty going on in the Salt Lake area. Below we list some major events that are popular with visitors and residents alike, and that reoccur ever year.

Sundance Film Festival - This major independent film festival is centered in Park City, but many screenings, parties and other activities are held in Salt Lake City. Held annually in mid-January.

LDS General Conference - Held semi-annually in early April and early October, these gatherings draw thousands of Mormons to the Temple Square area in downtown Salt Lake City.

Days of 47 - This celebration marks the arrival of the pioneers into the Salt Lake Valley. It runs for about 10 days, culminating on July 24, which is a state holiday. It includes parades, rodeos, a marathon and many other activities.

Marathon - The Deseret Morning News/KJZZ TV Marathon and 10K run are usually held on July 24, as part of the Days of '47 activities.

Utah Arts Festival - Opportunities to view and purchase all kinds of art items, plus food and music and related activities. Held annually in late June.

Greek Festival - Celebrates the Greek culture and its influence in the Salt Lake area. Offers great food and many activities. Held annually in early September.

Festival of Trees - This popular event displays decorated Christmas trees and serves as a fund raiser for Primary Children's Medical Center. Held annually in late November.

First Night - This is a big New Years Eve part held at various locations around Salt Lake City.
