Multi-day Trips | grand canyon guides |
The Upper Grand Canyon is one of our most popular whitewater adventures. Individuals planning to take this trip should plan well in advance because spots fill up quickly!
Trips are generally 4-8 days long and may be run on j-rig (motorized boats) or on oar boats (with the guide rowing). This section can be combined with the Lower Grand Canyon for trips up to 17 days long that end at Whitmore Wash or Lake Mead. Daily hikes into side canyons, leisurely swimming in glistening pools and great whitewater are highlights on this trip. More physically demanding hikes may be taken by those interested. The incredible scenery and natural history of the area add to the greatness of this trip.
Most trips through this section end at Phantom Ranch, where participants hike out of the canyon via the Bright Angel Trail. Participants need to be in good physical condition, or make special arrangements with guides. Inquire about options, requirements and cost. Additional expenses may include camping equipment. Meals and snacks are generally included as a part of the trip cost.

Different companies have differing policies about including children on a trip of this intensity. In general, the upper Grand Canyon is not appropriate for children under age 12. Most companies want children under 18 to be accompanied by an adult. Many other river trips are better suited for young children.
