Ice Hockey Arena
There were two ice hockey venues in the 2002 Winter Games. In Provo, ice hockey was played at the Peaks Ice Arena. The venue's two ice sheets were completed in preparation for the Games, in March 1999.

Venue History |
A new ice arena located in the Seven Peaks area of Provo was constructed by Provo City and Utah County. The groundbreaking ceremony took place in September 1997. An official grand opening and dedication ceremony was held 1-2 October 1999. The 7500 sq m/80,000 sq ft facility, along with the 'E' Center, was the site of both men's and women's ice hockey games. The venues two ice sheets were completed in June 1999. Temporary seating was raised capacity to nearly 8,000 for the Games. The Peaks Ice Arena hosted World Cup short track speed skating in October 1999. |
