Utah Olympic Oval

Built to host speed skating competitions during the 2002 Salt Lake Olympic Winter Games, the Utah Olympic Oval now serves as a multi-purpose recreation complex that includes recreational gyms, weight facilities and swimming pools.

The Oval is operated by the Utah Athletic Foundation. During the 2002 Winter Games, the Oval saw athletes set 10 Olympic records and eight world records, while the facility gained a reputation for the "Fastest Ice on Earth."

Now, public skating is popular on the fabled ice. Skating, speed skating and hockey events are held at the Oval, along with a variety of competitions and classes for enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels. The facility offers rental skates, helmets and other equipment.

Boy Scouts and other youth groups often use the facilities for training and recreation.

The rink and other facilities can be rented for group functions. The Oval also hosts facilities not related to ice events. Located only 25 minutes from downtown Salt Lake City, it is an ideal venue for a wide variety of functions year round including meetings, receptions, corporate retreats, banquets and family reunions. It can accommodate group sizes ranging up to as many as 5,000 people.
