Difficulty: Moderate
Length: 4.5 miles

White Pine Canyon exemplifies the beauty of a glacially carved valley, bordered by deftly cut ridges, and an abandoned road makes easy hiking, despite the elevation gain, all the way to White Pine Lake. After the first mile, shared with the Red Pine Trail, the White Pine Trail switchbacks up to a meadow, crosses the meadow, and continues up gentle switchbacks to top a ridge and drop into White Pine Lake, set in a rocky cirque, walled off by cliffs on one side, a few spruce standing near, utterly lovely.
