Mineral Fork Trail

So easy to follow, this hike would make a great start for someone new to the sport.

Salt Lake City Trails

Trail Type: Hiking
Tread: Singletrack
Difficulty: Strenuous
Length: 0.75-5 Miles

A big gate currently blocks all vehicular traffic from the old road that rises to the Wasatch Mine in about three miles. So easy to follow, this hike would make a great start for someone new to the sport. After several switchbacks, the road arrives at a commanding overlook of Big Cottonwood Canyon to the north. From the Wasatch Mine, if energy and interest remain high, a long series of switchbacks take you by trail to the Regulator Johnson Mine in about another 1.5 miles. A scramble to the pass about 200 feet in elevation gain above this mine leaves you breathless and able to look back down over your entire route.
