Heber Area Skiing
Heber Valley serves as an important gateway to great downhill skiing and it offers some of the world's best cross country ski tracks. It is just a short drive from Park City and so it is a convenient place to stay while skiing Deer Valley, The Canyons and Park City Mountain Resort. It is also close to Sundance Ski Resort, and to some of the world's best cross country skiing at Soldier Hollow and Wasatch Mountain State Park.
From Hwy 40 near Jordanelle Reservoir, the Jordanelle Express Gondola takes skiers up Little Baldy Peak and onto the fabled slopes at Deer Valley Ski Resort. Deer Valley consistently ranks as the number one ski resort in North America, as ranked by readers of Ski managazine. This gondola is just a short drive from most lodging properties in Heber Valley.
Sundance Resort is located on the east side of majestic Mt Timpanogos. Owned by Robert Redford, Sundance is accessible via Provo Canyon, and is just a short drive from Heber Valley's many lodging establishments.
Soldier Hollow was the venue for 2002 Winter Olympic biathlon and cross-country skiing events. It is open to the public for a variety of activities including cross country skiing. It's groomed trails are regarded as some of the best in the US.
Nearby Wasatch Mountain State Park also offers great cross country ski trails.
