Erastus Snow, a leader and colonizer in the Church, helped establish settlements on the Virgin and Santa Clara Rivers, including St. George, Utah. He was responsible for opening the Scandinavian Mission in 1850 and for the translation of the latter-day scriptures into Danish. A biographer declared that Erastus Snow was “in every sense of the word, truly an Apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ.”
