Harvest Moon
Ogden
Sep 21 - Sep 21
Each fall, for the past 11 years, Historic 25th Street in Ogden shuts down the street to throw a community event. Usually the last weekend in September, this year’s event will be on September 22nd and 10,000 plus commnity members, athletes, and good-time seekers will spend their day on Historic 25th Street.
They will be treated to live music and family oriented fun and enjoy food vendors from Historic 25th Street restaurants, children’s activities, browsing shops, and street performers.
The heart of the event is the free children’s activities that take place during the first half of the day. With community partners such as the Dinosaur Park, Home Depot, 25th Street Businesses, The Tree House Museum, Weber State University, Ogden City Firefighters, Union Station, the Farmer’s Market, Weber Pathways, Eccles Community Art Center and others, a dynamic venue for family fun is constructed resulting in a community even t like no other in Weber County. Tables are set up with activities such a pumpkin carving, arts & crafts, musical instruments, etc. to create an enjoyable experience for children and their parents.
Several athletic events also take place in conjunction with Harvest Moon Festival. The Xterra National Championships take place the same day at Snowbasin Ski resort. The Historic 25th Street Association coordinates the Harvest Moon Festival with Xterra in order for the participants of the National Championship event to partake in the festival as part of the championship celebration, thus expanding regional and national exposure for the Harvest Moon event and sponsors. In addition to the Xterra athletes, each year more and more athletic events are being coordinated to take place on the same day so that athletes and their family can enjoy the downtown environment of Historic 25th Street. These events have included and trail run, the Harvest Moon Criterium bike race, a kayaking event, Mountain film festival and wake boarding demonstrations. The coordination of these events drives an affluent demographic to the city for the afternoon.
